Profile

As a partnership, we take our responsibility to the environment seriously. Lots of people go organic in their veg plots or allotments; we simply think ‘If its good enough for the veg, why not for the whole garden?’ A few years ago, we took the plunge and became one of the first organic garden maintenance companies in the UK, and we haven’t looked back since!

Recently, we have focused further on gardening with wildlife in mind and we are working on a number of projects to turn normal suburban gardens into beautiful oases full of life! We’ve even decided to shift most of our equipment to battery-powered tools, charged through our 100% wind power energy supply: less fumes at the power station and in your garden!

To get the wildlife gardening message across to more people, we started ‘The Wildlife Garden Podcast’, a YouTube channel ‘The Wild GDN‘ and provide talks to gardening clubs and associations.

Our qualifications

We are Ellie and Ben, and we have been running the Ellie’s Wellies partnership for over seven years.  Both of us hold RHS level 2 horticultural qualifications, having studied through Derby College, the Derbyshire Eco Centre and the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. Ellie also has a Permaculture Design Certificate. We are always improving our knowledge of both gardening and wildlife with ongoing education and attendance at horticultural and ecological conferences. We’re also members of The Gardeners Guild, so you can be sure that we know what to plant and when to prune!
