Introducing Ellie

I am Ellie, business owner of Ellie’s Wellies for over 10 years, and I take my responsibility to the environment very seriously. Lots of people go organic in their veg plots or allotments; I simply think ‘If its good enough for the veg, why not for the whole garden?’ A few years ago, with ex business partner Ben, I took the plunge and became one of the first organic garden maintenance companies in the UK, and haven’t looked back since. Importantly, my clients, some of whom I’ve been gardening for for over 7 years, are all happy with the results.

For the last 5 years, I have focused further on gardening with wildlife in mind and I am working on a number of projects to turn normal suburban gardens into beautiful oases full of life! I even shifted most of my equipment to battery-powered tools, charged through our 100% wind power energy supply: less fumes at the power station and in your garden.

To get the wildlife gardening message across to more people, I started ‘The Wildlife Garden Podcast’ with my ex business partner Ben, and now also provide talks to gardening clubs and associations. Quite simply, I am obsessed with UK flora and fauna, and would love to spread the enthusiasm for protecting it.

My qualifications

I hold RHS level 2 horticultural qualifications, having studied through the Derbyshire Eco Centre and the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. I hold a Permaculture Design Certificate. I am always improving my knowledge of both gardening and wildlife with ongoing education and attendance at horticultural and ecological conferences. I’m a member of The Gardeners Guild, so you can be sure that I know what to plant and when to prune, to keep your garden in tip top condition!
